Aptitude Test Guidelines for Assistant Station Master Exam

:: Sample Tests ::

Test for measuring your  Intelligence:

In this test each problem consists of five figures, four of which are similar in a certain way. You are required to find out the one which is different from other four.


In the example given above you will note that figure No. 4 is different from the other figures as the 2 circles do not touch each other

Practice Problems:

The answer for practice problems are 2, 3, 1, 4, 1, 3, 1, 4, 3, 4, 5, 5, 3, 1, 2, 5, 4, 2, 3 and 3 respectively

Test for measuring Selective Attention:

In this test your task is to add odd numbers, for example 1, 3, 5, etc., and indicate which of the five options shows the correct sum. While counting even numbers are to be ignored.


In the example given above you will note that option ‘D’ is the correct answer.

Practice Problems:

The answer for practice problems are A, D, B, C, A, C, B, E, B, A, D, C, D, E, A , B, C, E, B and E respectively

Test for measuring Spatial Scanning:

You have to find out shortest possible route between any two stations (represented by alphabets) in the shortest possible time in a given map. Dark lines indicate streets. The circles are barriers, which cannot be crossed. Squares containing numbers represent houses. Number of the house passed by while finding the shortest route will be your answer.


The answer to first problem is 1. The answers to other problems are 5, 3, 2, 4, 4, 1, 5, 1 and 4

Practice Problems:

The answer for practice problems are 10, 5, 6, 8, 9, 2, 10, 5, 10, 6, 9, 7, 3, 8, 6, 5, 2, 10, 4 and 1 respectively

Test for measuring your Personality:


This test booklet contains 35 questions and you have to answers them according to your interest and views. Based on your answers two different dimensions of your personality would be evaluated and two separate scores would be generated. It is mandatory for you to qualify on both the dimensions of personality for being suitable in this test.  

When you answer keep these four points in mind:

1. Give the first natural answer as it comes to you.
2. Try not to fall back on the middle, ‘uncertain’ answers except when the answer at either end is really impossible for you.
3. Be sure not to skip anything, but answer every question, somehow.
4. Answer as honestly as possible what is true of you.
